You might have noticed that last month (or was it two months ago?). I’m so sorry, but it’s always the hardest to get down to writing about products that end up in my daily rotation. I start taking them for granted as if they have always been there. I received these two primers from Urban Decay after their launch and I’ve been rotating them ever since.
The first, Urban Decay Urban Defense is ridiculously innovative. It is an SPF 30 products packed in a primer. The texture is much like a light gel when it comes out of the bottle but it smoothes over skin easily and leaves a nice, soft, feel. I mean, it’s genius. I’ve never seen a sunblock in a clear liquid before and the brand managers informed us at the launch that it was something unique! The primer is light but performs well, not as well as my beloved Dermalogica Hydrablur, but because of the added SPF I’ve been choosing this for most days where I know I’ll be outdoors a lot.
The second is the Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer. This primers focus is particularly on perfecting your skin tone and pores. Out the jar the primer has a strong silicone feel and is very different from Urban Defense. It has a pinkish tone and is opaque. The texture is thicker and creamier. I find that Optical Illusion has a tendency to pill when I wear it over certain moisturisers but not always. However, when it works, IT WORKS. I’m not able to wear this without foundation because of the pink tint, but underneath foundation it does a fantastic job. I’ve gotten tons of compliments when I’m wearing it and I really like how smooth it makes my skin look. It’s definitely standing up to the Dermalogica Hydrablur.
These primers are available at Urban Decay Sandton, Selected Foschini stores AND Urban Decay is opening a store in Pretoria this June followed by a store in Cape Town in August! Judging by the queries I get, I know many of you will be so happy to hear this!
P.S I’ve had a really busy time but the next few months are going to be great for the blog! Thank you so much for being here with me for the past SIX years, I hope that we’ll continue to be here together for a few more years. 😉
