You must know by now that I’m on Roaccutane. I pretty much tell everyone about it. But this is not about Roaccutane. This is about a big change in the way I care for my skin. I’ve adopted pretty much adapted two principles from Asian skincare into my own skincare, avoid irritation and hydrate. They’re also huge believers in suncare, but I’ve already got that down (and you should too!).
It’s simple, irritation causes inflammation which in turn will cause breakouts, pigmentation and more. I’m preventing irritation firstly by adopting an incredibly hydrating routine. I use serums that I know my skin agrees with, and I finish it all off with an occlusive at night and in the morning.
In early December I started trawling acne forums and blogs to find out just what their HG products were. I wanted to know what I could use to keep my skin hydrated and keep it locked in. Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm came up over and over again. This product is actually referred to as Aquaphor Healing Ointment in the US, but our version is the Soothing Skin Balm. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive and I figured since my lips will probably get dry soon and I’m prone to eczema, I might as well try it.
I’ve just started using the Aquaphor and all I can say right now is that it is really heavy duty! I’ve been using it as a lip balm during the day, over my ridiculously dry cuticles and on my face every second night with no issues. Now that I’m saying it, I can’t believe that I’ve been using it this much! Don’t you love a multitasker?
Let me know if you’re tried Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm and what you thought of it!
