I am so in love with this cleansing oil, I don’t even know how to describe it to you.
I’ve always been in love with Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Their quick-absorbing mix of potent essential oils just worked for me. So, I knew that the combination of oils and the scent of this was going to draw me in. The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil contains squalane, evening primrose oil and lavender (which is apparent in the scent). This combination is intended by Kiehl’s to be soothing and cleansing. I like the idea.
If you don’t know much yet about cleansing oils, they are fantastic on their own or as part of a multi-step cleansing routine. Oils are intended to remove the heaviest dirt on your face. This oil is no exception.
The oil is non-comedegenic and con-acnegenic, contains no mineral oil, no sulfates and no soap. So it’s safe for pretty much everyone. I’m happy to report that I’m using it without issue on my low-dose of Roaccutane (read more about that here).
Using the oil is simple. On normal makeup days, I squirt a pump or two onto my hands and massage the oil over my face. The oil makes easy work of my regular eyeliner and mascara and everything loosens up at this stage. Following the massage, I rinse my face with warm water. At this stage, the oil will emulsify and turn milky. I always follow this with a gentle foam cleanser, but it is not necessary if you haven’t worn makeup that day. For those with very dry skins, an oil cleanser like this one is perfect.
