I’m not saying South Africa is faultless, but what I can say is that it is an amazing place. It is just gorgeous. I think few places beauty the beauty of Table Mountain, the Karoo, the Blyde River Canyon, the beaches of the Eastern Cape and I could go one forever. I really love South Africa. If I ever leave South Africa, I know that the scenery and every ‘South African’ is what I’ll be missing. One of those very South African things is a BIC lighter. I remember when I was young and rebellious stealing glances at the lighters at Pick n Pay and the images printed on them. I might not smoke, but I do keep a stash of lighters at home for that other South African problem (load-shedding).
BIC invited me to share their latest campaign which will give ordinary South Africans the chance to get their photos of the South Africa they love onto a BIC lighter. It’s simple. All you need to do is upload your photo sharing how you #LoveSA onto their site http://ilovemybic.co.za/ and BIC will be selecting 8 winners who will each get R5000 and their photo printed on BIC lighters. I can’t imagine the joy 14 year old me would feel seeing a photo I took on a lighter!
BIC also invited me on their #BICLoveYourSA instawalk this past weekend where Heather from 2Summers and other instagrammers took us around Maboneng. I decided to challenge myself and took some shots with my phone to see how I could do. What do you think of my shots? Or do you prefer the photo above I took in Newtown? Share your amazing shots with BIC on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with the #BICLoveYourSA hashtag, but remember that you must upload your photo to the website to be considered for the official competition. South Africa is a melting pot of culture, creativity, nature and fashion, it doesn’t have to be a shot of nature or animals. Share what makes you #LoveSA. Who knows, I might be using your lighter to keep my apartment bright!
