I’m fast becoming a fan of the natural look. I’ve been harping on about it for a while now but my trip to Japan has really convinced me that skincare is the way to go. For the first time in years I went out with my tinted sunblock and concealer only. No foundation, no powder, no fixing spray. It’s quite liberating to be honest and my skin needs a break from layers of makeup. I’m actually starting to like what my bare skin looks like and I don’t have the best skin.
It seems natural then that I start embracing powder compacts. A powder compact could be almost anything and many compacts over a cream to powder formulation that is full coverage. But that isn’t what I’m interested in. I like the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Compact I received. It’s a powder compact that leaves a matte, light coverage on my skin. It’s great for a natural touch up during the day and works well to just calm down shine during the day.
The shade I got, 06 Beige Cannelle seemed to be my shade, but it turned out to be about two shades too dark so I haven’t worn it out too much, which is a pity, because I really like it. It has a nice, light feeling on my skin and mattifies in a natural way. I also love the packaging. That’s one thing I’ve started noticing about high-end vs drugstore makeup these days. Drugstore packaging is often just cheap and flimsy. The compact is larger than what you’d expect, but it’s got a huge vertical mirror and space to tuck away the sponge. Clean and Nifty. I’d buy this for the clever packaging alone.
You can buy the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H compact for R565 at Lancome retailers.
