Have I ever mentioned just how much I love buildings? Yes, I love buildings so much. In another life I was definitely an architect. I imagine myself being tasked with the enormous job of thinking up a skyscraper or an office building in the heart of the city. While some people claim cranes are a blip to the beautiful skyline we have, I see cranes as promise of a new building, new employees and a new addition to that skyline. So obviously when I was invited to have dinner at Central One at the Radisson Blu I practically flew to the window. The view is spectacular.
But I wasn’t there for the view, I was there for food and when it comes to my love for food and buildings, they’re pretty much even. The six course tasting menu I had was a small slice of what Central One offers but it was a really good slice. Two of their dishes, the Pork Belly and the Sea Bass have won awards and I can’t speak for the Pork but the Sea Bass was divine. If you can;t decide, try the Beef carpaccio. It’s a simple dish for fussy eaters but I love the addition of nuts, it really adds texture.
Dessert was a firm favourite with my group. We had the White Chocolate Frozen Parfait and it was the right amount of sweet and sour. It was so good, I ate the entire thing AFTER a five course meal. And I have a small stomach.
Overall, Central One offers a nice variety of dishes and tops it off with great dessert. The decor is very minimal but I like the look of the restaurant, the floor to ceiling windows allow a lot of the light from outside enter. So during the day its bright and fresh and at night it’s a little warmer with dimer lighting. Win for ambience.
