You might have guessed it, but I have an obsession with dying my hair brown. I have black hair that my boyfriend says is a little ‘harsh’ with my bangs and the length. Once I started dying my hair brown, I just couldn’t stop. When Koleston sent me a medium brown, very caramel pack of dye I rushed at the opportunity to try and cover my roots.
Koleston is Wella’s new at-home dying kit and comes with 2 extra conditioners – the 15 day and 30 day colour re-activators. So, quite a lot comes in the box with the dye. Koleston Colour Creme offers Wellas Colour Hold technology that forms a barrier between coloured hair and water to further protect the colour.
How did it work for me?
One box was definitely not enough for fully cover my hair, but it was enough to do most of it. It was a little hard to sift through my hair because the dye was so dark. The roots of my hair were black and the rest was a medium-dark brown colour. Koleston dyed my hair a little darer than expected, but I was happy with the results. I also used the 15 Day Colour Re-activator and quite like the concept, the re-activator is a conditioner that contains dyes to refresh your look and help prevent fading of the colour. My hair didn’t feel like I had stripped the life out of it after I dyed it which is always a huge plus. I think this is definitely a great addition to the at-home dyes we have available in South Africa. Also Sashi Naidoo is the face of Koleston Colour Creme for South Africa and she’s gorgeous.
The pictures are click to zoom and the lighter areas are where sun is streaming through my hair on the side. I think the sheer amount of hair I have make it appear darker that it really is, but that’s just a theory.
Wella Koleston Colour Creme is available at selected retailers for R149.99. ( I have seen it at Clicks)
I didn’t realise that I didn’t have a picture of the box in this post – and will update later with what exact shade I used.
