diy honey and baking powder face wash

Towards the end of 2012 my skin was in a fairly bad place. I was sunburnt, uneven and developing a splattering of pimples. Using my normal face washes did absolutely nothing to my skin and exfoliators felt like gravel. I had come across this recipe a while back and just decided to go for it.

Honey is and a must-have in the kitchen, apart from it being a healthy sweetener, a little honey in warm milk before bed will help you sleep like a baby. Using it in a facewash was a little daunting because it is just so sticky, but I’ve since mastered it.

I use baking powder AND Honey because I prefer a light exfoliation. if your skin is sensitive add baking powder once or twice a week only.

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon honey (Raw or Manuka Honey suggested, I use normal honey)

Mix the above in your palm and spread over face. You can leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off. The honey rinses off really easily and your skin will feel great.

I’ve been using this since mid-December and my skin looks and feels amazing. I might start using it once a day instead of twice and use my standard face wash. During this time I have not been masking my face mostly because I felt my skin didn’t need it.

I’ll have to try this. I’ve been using a mix of castor, jojoba and tea tree oil to wash my face with. It’s completely cut out the need for a moisturiser or toner. And then every second day i mix a bit of baking soda as an exfoliant. It’s really helped to even out complexion 🙂

This sounds like a great treat for the skin, thanks for the post 🙂

Do you know any way to make a awesome Toner? I really want one which is nice and simple, and stays fine for long periods. 🙂 Thanks xxx

You can use Rosewater as a toner or Apple Cider Vinegar (3 parts water 1 part ACV). Apple Cider Vinegar is really good but I can’t stand the smell.

My skin is in a horrible condition after going on a hike, so I would love to try this, but have to ask. Should it be baking powder and honey or baking soda and honey? We know baking soda as bicarbonate of soda.

I tried it and it had immediate results. My skin has never felt so soft before. Better results than any of the expensive face washes I’ve ever used. Hoping it’s going to work in the long run.
