September Rubybox Review | Glambox

rubybox review south africa

I received my Rubybox yesterday. This is the first box of the combined Rubybox and Glambox team. Last month Glambox announced that from now on they would ‘team’ up with Rubybox, however, a Rubybox branded box and all sing-ups being moved to the Rubybox website tells a different story. Whatever it is, I was still pretty excited to get my first Rubybox.

The box is smaller and more flimsy than a Glambox, I think their idea is to be more environmentally friendly. I was pretty excited at first because the box felt pretty heavy. (You’ll know why later).

So, for the contents:

My favourite product and the only product that stood out for me: Healing Earth African Potato Balm.

Healing Earth African Potato Balm

This Balm smells amazing and I use it everywhere. It is incredibly moisturising and once massaged in doesn’t leave too much of a sheen. I used it on my very dry face and woke up with absolutely no tightness. it’s a pity this is so expensive, it definitely is something I would buy.

The box also contained a ‘Camilla’ Nail polish. I am not sure about this brand, the bottle looked very cheap but I tried it out anyways. I didn’t really like the colour, but the polish dried quickly and two coats gave me perfect coverage. it does feel like a good nail polish and you can see in the picture, but The colour is too funky for me. (I’m a boring old lady:P). Apologies for the sloppy application.

I was pretty grateful that it came with a Palmolive Thermal Spa Shower gel, but disappointed because I could buy this cheaply from Pick and Pay.

There was a Givency Sample, but I never end up using them.

Overall, I am a bit disappointed this month. I really though that this box would be incredible. Did you order a Rubybox? What did you think of it?

(As a side note, I ordered my Kiehl’s Rubybox and am still incredibly excited for that, not sure whether I will continue my subscription after)

I received the same Rubybox and also was rather disappointed.I got a blue nail polish which also looks cheap and tacky .Most of the products are available at Clicks or PicknPay and are low end products. The fragrance sample ,well you can pick these up at the cosmetics counters for free if you ask.Hope the next box is a bit more lavish and luxurious like the ones Glossybox sends.

Ah man. Seriously agree with you. I was disappointed with the Glossybox that came with packet samples only because you can also get those for free. overall, I am just disappointed with these on the whole 🙁 I really hope they can get better!

I’d be incredibly disappointed with a box like that! The nail polish is very cheap and nasty. I remember seeing them at a pharmacy for like R15 a bottle. I also don’t like getting products that I can cheaply buy at P’nP or shoprite. I signed up for the Kiehl’s box as well because I live in Cape Town so I have to wait until 2013 before I’ll get to try the products out. I hope the partnership with Glambox creates a strong box in future that is worth while and exciting.

Yeah, it’s very, very disappointing. I hope the Kiehls box lives up to expectations, but they are a fantastic brand so they will put enough in. I hope the partnership brings improvement otherwise it will be a sad day for beauty boxes in SA
