pape umbrella wall DIY

There is this incredible website, Apartment Therapy which I am obsessed with. I am obsessed to the point that I care more about the decor of my apartment than the actual apartment. After reading tons of DIY articles I came across the cutest wall decoration. I really think this is great if you have a small space and can’t have a lot of ornamental things. Why not make the wall the center of attention? Also, it doesn’t require any drilling and permamanent damage to the wall so it could also be great for College res rooms πŸ™‚

All you need to do is get a whole bunch of these cocktail umbrella‘s and some poster putty (which is, Prestik). There are few more sophisticated things you could use here, Pratley putty is an example, but this isn’t a design that’s intended to last 10 years. Ok, then here is the lengthy process you need to follow:

Step one

Cut most of the stem of the umbrella off. Use a sharp scissor so th edge isn’t jagged. It could be interesting if you cut your umbrella’s at slightly different levels and give some sore depth to the design. You would still need to cut MOST of the stem off.

Step two

Put the Prestik on the wall and attach the stem of the umbrella to it. Make sure that the umbrella feels secure. If you aren’t happy with the way it looks, either cut the stem more or start over.

Done πŸ™‚

There are many things you could do with this and many variants especially if you got different size umbrella’s, different colours or translucent ones. You could even decide whether to cover the whole wall or just parts of it.

I love this and will definitely be doing it at my place soon!

    I absolutely LOVE Apartment Therapy.
It’s such visual candy for me.
I think about all the things I can do to my home, but then I never ever get to do them, but it’s ok, just looking at what others have done makes me happy that there is some awesomeness in this world after all πŸ™‚
